  • The Dangerous Summer Releases New Song “Pacific Ocean”

  • Back in March, American rock band The Dangerous Summer, consisting of AJ Perdomo (vocals/bass), Josh Withenshaw (rhythm guitar), Christian Zawacki (drums) and Marcus Leopard (lead guitar/touring), announced their seventh studio album “Gravity” would be released on July 21, 2024 via Rude Records.

The album is their first body of work in two years since the 2022 album “Coming Home” and comprises a 12-track.
The band worked with producer Will Beasley on the album.

The band lead singer and bassist AJ Perdomo told The Alternative about the album, “Coming Home, which we just put out, people were critical of. So I was thinking, 'If this isn't what you want, that's okay. It's what I want.' The audience doesn't even know what they want unless they connect with it. The reason people like 'The Permanent Rain' isn't because it's good, it's because it's honest. We're here to make honest songs, not great songs.”
He added, “At the beginning of every album, at least the last couple, I think about how I want to do something crazy. I want to shock us. I want to tread some new ground.”
  • From the album, the band released a new song “Pacific Ocean” on May 22, 2024.
The song is the third single off of the album, following “Gravity” and “What's An Hour Really Worth”.
The track was written by AJ Perdomo, Christian Zawacki, Josh Withenshaw, and Matthew Kennedy. Produced by Will Beasley.
The accompanying music video was directed by The Dangerous Summer.

AJ Perdomo said of the song as “about freedom and living in the moment. It’s a love song at heart, and an ode to California.”
He continued, “I mention a story in the song, about my good friend Dan Geraghty almost getting shot by someone outside of a bar in LA. I want to express the emotion of being human and leveling with the world - there's a number of words it takes to get to the center of it all. We shot the music video ourselves. It has been insanely rewarding to dive headfirst into our visuals, it allows us to really capture a new dimension to the music.”

  • The band touring member and lead guitarist Marcus Leopard said of the song on social media, “The best song by The Dangerous Summer, in my humble opinion is 'Pacific Ocean'. It's new one. It's a new song and that's...it's just a jam. And honestly it reminds me of Jimmy Eat World which hometown Arizona boys. They're like one of my favorite bands. It's got a Jimmy vibe. It's like true emo rock. 'Pacific Ocean', I love it.”
