Charli XCX Premieres New Song “Von dutch” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Charli XCX premiered a new song “Von dutch” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo on February 29, 2024.
The song is the first single off of her upcoming sixth studio album “Brat”, which is expected to be released this summer.
Also, it is the first release since the 2023 single “Speed Drive” from the soundtrack “Barbie the Album”.
The track was written by Charli XCX, and EASYFUN who also produced it.
She first performed the song at her Boiler Room set in Brooklyn on February 22, 2024.
The accompanying music video was directed by TORSO, who shot at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport.
Charli XCX said of the song in an interview with The Face, “I was sharing my process with friends and people who don't make music, and [the lyrics] were becoming conversational, like things I would text people. It was beginning to feel gossipy in a fun way, so I leant into it.”- The new album comprises a 15-track. It is her first album in two years since the 2022 album “Crash”.
Charli XCX shared on social media, “I was born to make dance music.. I came from the clubs.. xcx6 is the album i've always wanted to make... I love you angels I love partying with you and I love all of you who wanted to be there but couldnt. xcx6 is a club record and I cant wait to party around the world with you all.” - source : BBC Radio 1
