Cat Burns Premieres New Song “alone” on BBC Radio 1
London-based singer-songwriter Cat Burns premiered a new song “alone” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song is the follow-up to the collaborative song “Wasted Youth” with Northamptonshire-based producer goddard., which was released last month.
She co-wrote the song with Steve Mac, who also produced the track.
Cat Burns told Clara Amfo about working with Steve Mac, “I wrote it with Steve Mac. He just has he just knows what he's doing. And we wrote the song together. And about a week later, he just sent me the track and there was just like loads of just vocals in it. And I was like, 'How did you do this?' And a magician never reveals secret sides don't know whose voices that is. Some of the quiet stuff. I think it's a woman and she did an amazing job. But Steve has his ways.”
She continued, “I love choirs, I love anything choral. I just think it gives it lifts it lifts the songs so much and can really like drilling the message of a song way more. So I just thought with this song, it wrote itself and I just thought it needed like a big choir, which is just why it sounds so big.”- Cat Burns said of the song, “I've fallen into that trap before I have a few songs where it's like, I've lived more love more. We're not kids anymore. I don't know why I do it is just it just happened sometimes but 'alone' was just it just so happened that the next thing will was just then called 'alone'. It just kind of fell into that place.”
She added, “For me, it was a friend of mine came to me and was just really worried that she was never going to meet anyone. And she just felt like there were lots of life things in terms of romantically that she hadn't yet achieved. And we're all either 24 or 25 Next year, and she was like, 'I'm just a bit scared that this is just going to be my life and that I'm never going to meet anybody.' And it just kind of got me thinking that there's a lot of people that are in that same situation that romantically feel unfulfilled and they're just worried that they're never going to meet that person and I wanted to kind of just make a really dramatic, overly dramatic song where you're just in your feelings about that. But also in a way that is it's not kind of a down in the dumps. 'Oh my gosh, I'm so sad. I'm so lonely. It's very much like', I'm happy with life. I'm happy like hanging out with myself and doing things by myself. But I'm starting to get an itch of like, Could I enjoy things more with somebody? So I'm not I think I'm glad that is now out in the world because I feel like it's, it represents a large group of people. That probably feel the same way.“ - source : BBC Radio 1
