Rita Ora Releases New Version of “Shape Of Me” featuring Keith Urban
British singer-songwriter Rita Ora released a new version of “Shape Of Me” on January 26, 2024.
This time, she recruited Australian singer-songwriter Keith Urban for the song.
The original version of the song is featured on her third studio album “You & I”, which was released for the first time in five years last July.
The song is inspired by and dedicated to her mother, Vera, who works on the frontline in the NHS as a psychiatrist and mental health nurse.
The track was written by Alex Niceforo, Jenna Andrews, Keith Sorrells, Rita Ora, Rollo, and Warren Felder.
Produced by Oak Felder, Alex Niceforo, Keith Sorrells, and Mark Ralph.
Rita Ora told The Sun about working with Keith Urban, “I really started to get to know his daughters and his wife and just seeing all the feminine presence. Shape Of Me is about my mum and I felt like, verbally, Keith would really resonate to that. It also has this country twang, so it made sense.”- Rita Ora shared on social media, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM! We’ve been through everything together, you’ve always been such a beautiful inspiration in my life and in my music. I wanted to write a song about you for the longest time, so when Shape Of Me was written by me and the You & I writing squad for my album and released I was finally able to share so much that i’ve been feeling about you. It really became clear how much love you’ve shown me and how much you’ve taught me over the years!! SO, what better way to say HBD then to share a new version of it with the AMAZING Keith Urban, out 26th January. I can’t believe I have a song with the legend himself it’s such a huge honour! He helped me make it that much more special as this song is also showing appreciation to all the women in your life! And that guitar solo Keith is ICONIC! So surprise mum this one is for you! Happy 60th!”
She added, “Yeah my mama got that heart, she said don’t let go of the parts that keep you younger...” - source : Apple Music
