Kellie Loder Releases New Song “When We Kiss”
Canadian singer-songwriter Kellie Loder released a new song “When We Kiss” on January 12, 2024.
The song is taken from their upcoming album, which is expected to be released in 2024.
The track is about being so infatuated with someone that the world seems to disappear when you kiss them.
Kellie Loder wrote it at their kitchen table in St. John's the morning after their most romantic night of their life.
The track was written and produced by Kellie Loder, with production by Cory Tetford.
The accompanying music video was directed by Kellie Loder and Daniel Adams.
Kellie Loder said of the song, “I feel as though it's the closest thing to my heart on the record. I can still feel the feelings I felt all those years ago when I listen to it. It's also the first song I've written that will be released and that's obviously about a girl. It's a huge checkmark in sharing who I really am with the world, sexuality and all. For so many years, I would censor or change pronouns of the person I was writing about to not out myself. In this song, I don't hold back at all and it's refreshing.”- Kellie Loder explained about the song, “'When We Kiss,' was inspired by the most romantic night of my life. I found myself at Signal Hill with someone I had just met that evening; looking at the lights of the city, her eyes, and having the Best. Kiss(es). Ever. Sometimes love burns so hot and fast that all you can do is sing about it right away.”
They comtinued, “I wanted 'When We Kiss' to sound dreamy, much like the feeling of being in love/lust/whatever I felt that night. I actually played drums on this track (something I've never done before) and I'm really proud of that!” -
They added, “A lot of the songs I write come from a chaotic place but usually give the option of calm. I've never been one to lead my listeners down a road of 'this is my life right now and here's why it's hard' without offering a glimmer of relief. I like to create avenues off the hard road that might lead to a lighter place. Call me an optimist, I guess. 'When We Kiss,' however, is all rainbows and butterflies which rarely happens for me and my writing. It's a place I enjoy being in.”
