Steve Maddock Releases New Song “A Special Kind Of Love”
Vancouver-based jazz singer-songwriter Steve Maddock will release his new album “Jack Of All Trades” on February 16, 2024 via Salt Spring Records.
The album is his first LP in three years since the 2021 album “The Blues Project” and comprises a 11-track.
From the album, he released the second single called “A Special Kind Of Love” on January 12, 2024, following “Holy Man”.
Steve Maddock worked with jazz arranger and composer Mike Reveley on the track.
“The song is about a young man talking with his father about his new girlfriend,” songwriter Mike Reveley said of the song. “The older man tries to tell him what real love is all about, but he doesn’t quite understand. He feels that he already knows what love is. As he ages, he comes to understand what his father was talking about: 'that special kind of love'.”- Steve Maddock said of working with Mike Reveley, “My former theory teacher, Mike Reveley, has written a bunch of tunes, and to my delight, has asked me to sing them! Anyone who studied jazz at Capilano University in the ‘80s, ‘90s, or early 2000s will know Mike, who played a significant part in creating and shaping one of the best jazz programs in the country. What an honour to be asked to sing his tunes!”
