  • Sam Smith Performs at NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

  • British singer-songwriter Sam Smith appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert to perform “Stay With Me”, “How Do You Sleep”, “Lay Me Down”, and “Unholy”.

This marks their first performance at Tiny Desk Concert.
Sam Smith shared, “Thank you so much for having us. It was a truly magical day and experience for us all.”
This time, Sam Smith performed with an 11-person choir and two instrumentalists.
“Stay With Me” and “Lay Me Down” are featured on their debut album “In the Lonely Hour”, which was released in 2014.
“Stay With Me” was written by Smith, James Napier, and William Phillips, with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne later receiving co-writer credits due to the song's noted melodic similarity to Petty's single “I Won't Back Down”.
“Lay Me Down” was written by Sam Smith, James Napier and Elvin Smith. The song was released as the lead single from the debut album, but was re-released in February 2015 as the sixth single.
This time, Sam Smith performed it with LaDonna Harley-Peters.
  • “How Do You Sleep” appears on their 2020 third studio album “Love Goes”. Sam Smith co-wrote the song with Savan Kotecha, Max Martin and Ilya.
“Unholy” is featured on their fourth studio album “Gloria”, which was released in 2023. Sam Smith collaborated with German singer-songwriter Kim Petras on the track.
The song won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
Unfortunately, this time, Kim Petras wasn't there.
