Timbaland Releases New Song “Keep Going Up” featuring Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake
American record producer Timbaland teamed up with Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado and American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake again to release a new song “Keep Going Up” on September 1, 2023.
As the trio, it is their first collaboration in 16 years since the 2007 smash hit song “Give It to Me”.
But Timbaland and Justin Timberlake worked together for “Carry Out” in 2009.
The track was written by Timothy Mosley, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Kenyon Dixon, Edgar Ferrera, Jordan Hollywood, Brandon Stewart, Brandon Cordoba, Jennah Bayyan, Chris Gaspin, Khyelle Anthony, and Chris Godbey.
Produced by Timbaland, SkipOnDaBeat, Last Trip To The Moon, Justin Timberlake, and CVRS.
The song will appear on Timbaland's upcoming EP “Textbook Timbo”, which is expexted to be released later this year.
Also, Timberlake will work with ESPN throughout the 2023-24 NFL season to curate music for select Monday Night Football games.
The new song served for ESPN’s Week 1 Monday Night Football promotional spot featuring Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills.- Timbaland told Entertainment Tonight, “If people want the 2006 back, I think we did it justice. I think we gave it a song with meaning. Meaning, it can relate to you or your friends. 'I keep going up, if you keep going up.' Like no matter what you go through, Imma be here for you. You know what I'm saying? And that's what that song is. It has all different meanings, and you still dance to it. You still jam to it. That's why this song is one of the best of my lifetime. It feels like 'We Are The World.'”
Nelly Furtado told Billboard, “[Timbaland and Timberlake] had thought it out quite a lot. What’s great about them is they’re like, ‘We want you to do your thing. We want you to lead the ship in that direction.’ Then they had some great music and parts together. If the three of us are on a song, then we’re all equals, and that’s a really good feeling.” - source : Apple Music
