Maddie Zahm Releases New Song “Eightball Girl”
American singer-songwriter Maddie Zahm released a new song “Eightball Girl” on August 18, 2023.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming debut album “Now That I've Been Honest”, which is set to be released on October 20, 2023 via AWAL.
The track was written by Madeleine Marie Zahm, Deza, and John Thomas Roach. Produced by Madeleine Marie Zahm and Adam Yaron.
The accompanying music video was directed by Gus Black.
Maddie Zahm said of the song, “'Eightball Girl' was the first love song I ever wrote about a girl. I sent it to my best friend who I had a small crush on to ask her how she felt about me. When I went into the studio, I was so anxious and started with that chorus melody. We came up with the idea of calling her a 'magic eightball' because I truly didn't know what her answer would be. We sent it to my team who genuinely thought it was about cocaine- I cleared that up! I will not stop until the hook annoys everyone the way it annoys me after a year of humming it”- The debut album is her first debut major release and comprises 13-track. It is follow-up to the 2022 EP “You Might Not Like Her”.
Maddie Zahm told Variance Magazine about the album, “I will say this album scares me a little more than the EP, which is crazy because the EP was such difficult topics, but it also, in some ways, was mostly about my experiences internally, if that makes sense. So when I would receive feedback on songs, it was easier for me to talk about my shit, and now it's interesting because I've gone through all of these new experiences, like going through heartbreaks and finally dating for the first time. It's really interesting that I now have an album that includes my experiences with others. So finding the line between making sure that I am protective of the people who went through those experiences with me and being able to talk about it myself, but I also trust myself in that. Luckily I've had only good experiences with the people I've written about, and it's all ended well. So, they all know about the song, so we're all good.” - source : Apple Music
