Michaël Brun Premieres New Song “Coming Your Way” with Anne-Marie & Becky G on BBC Radio 1
Haitian DJ Michaël Brun teamed up with British singer-songwriter Anne-Marie and American singer-songwriter Becky G to premiere a new song “Coming Your Way” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Jack Saunders on August 16, 2023.
This marks the first time Michaël Brun, Anne-Marie, and Becky G have worked together.
The track was written by Anne-Marie Rose Nicholson, Manuel Lorente Freire, Patrick Michael Brun, Rebbeca Marie Gomez, and Tia Scola. Produced by Michaël Brun.
Michaël Brun told Jack Saunders about the song, “All of this genre mixes I feel like really represents who I am. I grew up in Haiti, but I was also half Guyanese from my mother's side, listen to a lot of electronic music growing up Latin music, French music all around the UK Music from everywhere. So this song really encapsulates all those things. The big brass foreign melody on the drop is the first thing that actually came to mind when I made the song of the very first melody we had Anne-Marie and Becky both sing and so I'm really honored to have two incredibly talented artists and incredible women be part of this.”- He continued, “If you've ever been to a Haitian you will know that we love to dance and we love melody. And so the drums of that song are really at the forefront. The horn riff is really at the forefront and it to me it represents the quality now which is an instrument we have in Haiti, so that's like a very traditional sound for us and I wanted a song that could blend some of that tradition with the things that I really love in admire.”
Anne-Marie said, “I just love it so much. You kind of help move your body to this song and that's what I think musics about making you feel good making you dance and yeah, making you smile. So that that does that for me this song. This is why I love collaborating for that exact fact that you can just reach into all these different pockets, places around the world and just yeah be a part of it. I think it's so beautiful.” -
Becky G said of the music video, “I don't think we get any closer than being so sweaty on like one of the hottest days in LA and the house where they turn off the air conditioning. It was like a Sean Paul music video. That's what it was like. It was hot, sweaty, sexy and so much fun. I mean, God bless Anne-Marie, she literally was like super jet lagged and like totally pushed through absolutely killed it. Of course you can all time Michaël to come with the good vibes too. He kept checking in on all of us, making sure we were good, we had snacks that we were drinking water. Yeah, honestly, it was such a lovely experience.”
