Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Doja Cat Releases New Song “Paint The Town Red”
American rapper Doja Cat released the second single of 2023 called “Paint The Town Red” on August 4, 2023.
The song will appear on her upcoming fourth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2023.
Musically, the album will be predominantly centered around hip hop and R&B genres.
Doja told Rolling Stone about the album that she had been reconnecting with the music that she was raised listening to, such as Erykah Badu, John Coltrane and 90s hip-hop.
The track samples American singer-songwriter Dionne Warwick's 1963 single “Walk on By”.
It was written by Amala Zandile Dlamini, Isaac Earl Bynum, Burt Bacharach, and Hal David. Produced by Earl On The Beat.
The accompanying music video was directed by Doja Cat and Nina McNeely. The clip is based on three paintings Doja Cat designed.
Also, she has introduced a red color grade to the her past albums' cover art in line with the song's title.- Doja Cat will appear on Victoria's Secret's Prime Video broadcast on September 26, 2023.
She said, “I don't want to spoil too much, but like past projects, there's lots of different energy to songs, plus new sounds that I've never explored before.”
After the show appearance, she embarks on The Scarlet Tour in North America. The tour kicks off at Chase Center in San Francisco on October 31, 2023 and will conclude at United Center in Chicago on December 13, 2023.
