Jax Jones & Fireboy DML Team Up for New Song “Me & My Guitar”
London-based DJ Jax Jones teamed up with Nigerian singer-songwriter Fireboy DML to release a new song “Me & My Guitar” on June 6, 2023.
This marks the first collaboration between Jax Jones and Fireboy DML.
The song follows up the collaborative song “Whistle” with British singer-songwriter Calum Scott.
The track was written by Timucin Lam, Adedamola Adefolahan, Gez O'Connell, Koda, Max Wolfgang, SIBA, and Y.S. Moosavi.
Produced by Jax Jones, Mark Ralph, Neave Applebaum, and SIBA.
On the track, Jax Jones is singing for the first time.
Jax Jones shared on social media, “This record is probably the most important to me that I've released to date...the thing you're most scared to do is the thing you need to do. I cant wait for you guys to hear it.”- He continued, “I wanna play you the most ambitious song I've ever done. Listen to the lyrics. The reason why that's ambitious is because that's my voice, I'm singing for the very first time on my own song but just had to it's because my story. It's called 'Me & My Guitar' and it's about a young Jax Jones who felt like the world was against him and I just had a dream and I felt like I had to make it to make my life better. It was like do or die for me. Alright, check out chorus, 'Pack up my dreams and go / go somewhere far from home / I'm gonna be a star / just me and my guitar / get out this neighborhood big dreams of Hollywood / I know that I'll go far / just me and my guitar'. So the other voice on the song is Fireboy and he sings that 'peru, para' and gives it that little flavor shout out to him.
