CMAT Announces New Album “Crazymad, For Me”, Premieres New Song “Have Fun!” on BBC Radio 1
Irish pop singer-songwriter Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, aka CMAT has announced her sophomore album “Crazymad, For Me” will be released on October 13, 2023.
The album comprises 12-track, featuring a guest appearance from John Grant. A press release described the album as “It's an abstract break-up album... about what happens when you are still angry about something that happened 10 years ago.”
From the album, she premiered the second single called “Have Fun!”, following “Whatever's Inconvenient”, on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The track was written by Rob Milton and Ciara Thompson. Produced by Matias Tellez and Rob Milton.
Ciara Thompson said of the song, “This is a song about ring necked parakeets that are wild in London, but it is also a song about getting over a breakup and moving on from an emotional stalemate even when you don't, or can't, forgive the other person's actions. I suppose it is a song about how things in life are never satisfying, and don't make sense, but they exist anyway and we have to make the best of it. lol. Watch the vid too, which we made in Paris and Dublin with CLTV and a cast of tens and yes we did Have Fun!”- The accompanying music video was directed by Greg Purcell.
She said of the video, “I did two days in gay Paree with a wonderful motley crew of amazing locals who transported me back to la belle epoque so convincingly I was ready to storm the Bastille by the time it was done. The video for 'Have Fun!' Sort of encompasses the whole big wide overarching 'theory' behind the album, actually. I hope you love it!!” -
Ciara Thompson told Clara Amfo about the song, “It's a walk at home and six o'clock in the morning song, I think. It's like I have a little bit of regret, but mostly I'm having a great time. And I'm very happy to be here. I think that's what it's about.”
She continued, “This is like I mean, not to give the game away. But this is the album closer and it's the album closer for a reason. Because it's the resolution it's the resolve of like, I think the song is nothing makes sense. Nothing about anything makes sense. And I can't really make peace with anything but I can move on. And it's not fun. It is fun.” - source : BBC Radio 1
