James Arthur Releases New Song “A Year Ago”
British singer-songwriter James Arthur released a new song “A Year Ago” along with the Tim Mattia-directed music video on May 12, 2023.
The song is follows up to the collaborative song “Work With My Love” with Brazilian DJ Alok, which was earlier this year.
This time, he reunited with songwriter Steve Solomon on the track. Both artists co-wrote the 2016 smash hit song “Say You Won't Let Go”.
The track was written by Jamie Graham, and Steven Solomon in a single week at Steve Solomon's Los Angeles studio.
“It's a guitar song that began on piano, Steve playing a few chords, me scatting the line 'I miss you' over and over until the song presented itself,” James Arthur explained about the song. “It captures that feeling when you break up with someone and are riddled with regret and pain and fear. What If I never find someone as good as that again? Will I always be alone?”- c3Y98Iit9QY

He continued, “In fact, A Year Ago is not about one specific relationship, but every scenario is real. I've been through my fair share of heartache and I tapped into different times in my life. You're a year on, still wishing you could be back in a moment when the world felt right.”
Also, his mate and fellow musician Jamie Grey was in the studio during recording the track.
James Arthur said, “We've been friends since we were kids and having him along gets that young version of me back. It's weird but I become the kid who went with his feelings and trusted his gut.”-
