LP Announces New Album “Love Lines”, Shares New Song “Golden”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Laura Pergolizzi, aka LP announced their new studio album “Love Lines” would be released on September 29, 2023 via BMG.
It is their first album in two years since the 2021 album “Churches”.
The album comprises 12-track, where LP worked with collaborators Australian rock band 5 Seconds of Summer's Ashton Irwin, Canadian-American rock band Palaye Royale's Andrew Berkeley Martin, and GRAMMY-nominated producer-songwriter Matthew Pauling.
“This is the essence of me and what I've spent my life doing and cultivating and trying to understand and figure out,” LP said of the album. “Even as a human, I feel like I just keep getting more and more dense, concentrated. I'm more me every fucking year. I'm like that coffee that you gotta add water to that's like 15 times the strength.”
They continued, “It's putting someone at ease, helping their mind let go and get them ready to receive these emotions. Then they can let the song speak to their soul in the way that they want.”- From the album, LP unveiled the first single called “Golden” on May 10, 2023.
The song explores learning to appreciate the lessons that come from lost love.
The track was written by Laura Pergolizzi, Matthew Pauling, Ashton Irwin, and Andrew Berkeley Martin.
Produced by Matthew Pauling. The accompanying music video was directed by Stephen 'Norswrthy' Schofield.
The clip features LP dancing around a classic Californian mid-century mansion to the track's upbeat tempo reminiscing of their past relationships and memories alongside hyper-surreal golden models.
Also, Andrew Martin appeared on the video as a cameo. -
LP told Wonderland Magazine about the song, “It’s a deceptively simple song, especially lyrically. It takes a lot of going through a lot of shit to get to a place to feel golden with all your exes, your mistakes, all the blame and finger pointing that goes on during and after a relationship. I feel like I’m single for the first time in a billion years and I’ve never been less lonely, you know. I feel like I am enjoying myself and other people immensely now. It’s very present which is a lovely feeling. I feel like Golden is a symbol of that.”
