Lip Filler Announces Debut Self-Titled EP, Shares New Song “Monster Truck”
London-based indie rock band Lip Filler, consisting of George Tucker (vocals and keys), Verity Hughes (vocals/guitar), Jude Scholefield (guitar), Theodore Pasmore (guitar) and Nate Wicks (drums), announced their debut self-titled EP would be released on May 4, 2023 via Chess Club Records.
From the EP, the band unveiled the first single called “Monster Truck” on April 4, 2023.
The track was written by George Tucker, Jude Scholefield, Theodore Pasmore, Verity Hughes, and Nathan Castillo. Produced by St Francis Hotel.
The band said of the song, “Monster Truck is the first song we wrote that tells a story from the perspective of a character. It’s a take on American high school culture we derived from films like Napoleon Dynamite. The song’s written from the perspective of an awkward high school teen who has a crush on their next-door neighbour.”- The band said of the debut EP, “Lip Filler is a project we’ve become so involved in that it’s basically completely taken over our lives. We’ve put every part of ourselves into the music that we write. It’s a projection of our living situation, how we’ve all changed as people over the past few years, and a reflection on the human aspect of us growing up in our flat together. What started out as a bunch of housemates pissing about in their living room getting noise complaints, has turned into something we are all so invested in and excited for.”
They continued, “The EP is something that none of us could have done individually and something that we could have only done through working together. We’re each other’s therapists and worst enemies at the same time - like a dysfunctional family. We constantly second-guess and challenge each other, but we’ve come to this EP which is the result of all this attempted negotiation.” -
