Ryan Wayne Releases New Song “Forty Paces To The Bottom”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Ryan Wayne released a new song “Forty Paces To The Bottom” on February 27, 2023.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming debut album “Crow Amongst the Sparrows”, which is expected to be released in May 2023.
It was written by Ryan Wayne and Kelley McRae, and produced by Malcolm Burn.
Creating a narrative out of life's personal challenges, the song places particular emphasis on financial insecurity, alcoholism, mindfulness, lost love, and indecision.
Ryan Wayne said of the song, “The song is an attempt to create a narrative out of life’s personal challenges, particularly: financial insecurity, alcoholism, mindfulness, lost love, and indecisiveness. The song has lingered for many years, seeing several iterations in sound and lyrics. What was once a simple folk song, became a song that my previous band, The Warped 45s, occasionally played live, until it eventually landed on the sound that made this record. With each turn, came changes to the lyrical narrative as well. Whether it has found its appropriate finale, I’m not sure, but at some point, it needed to be set loose.”- The debut album comprises 8-track. It is his first project after rehab for suffering two strokes.
Ryan Wayne told Vents Magazine about the album, “The full album will be released in late May and I've started working on the follow-up. It was a pleasure to make, I was blessed to work with some incredible people and friends, and I hope it resonates with others. There are 8 songs in all and I even had the pleasure of my oldest daughter joining me for a song (She was 10 at the time).” -
