Ada Marques Releases Debut EP “creature of habit”: Streaming
Los Angeles-based alt-folk singer-songwriter Ada Marques released her debut EP “creature of habit” on December 1, 2022.
Initially, the EP was supposed to be released in November, but finally she dropped the EP in December.
The EP comprises 6-track, written by Ada Marques and produced by Chris Reynolds.
On the EP, she fuses alternative folk and folk-rock into a cinematic collection of moments and reflections, exploring the behaviors and unconscious decisions that kept her from accessing the better versions of herself.
Misty, rootsy rhythm guitar and piano instrumentals alternate with her crisp and gentle vocals, creating a dreamy and reflective atmosphere that glitters above the six-track collection.- Ada Marques explained of some tracks for the EP.
“napkin”
“I wrote 'napkin' on a whim during a rare rainy day. It's a letter to myself, a very cynical portrayal of who I am and how I see the world during my worst days. I wanted it to feel very strange but also soft in a way. Chris Reynolds created the most perfect unsettling atmosphere.”
“porcelain”
“I always write songs from a place of hurt, but this song seemed to come from a place of anger. It was the first time in a long time that I allowed myself to write when I was purely angry. I usually write to process my feelings more calmly, but this song was written like a rant rather than a self-controlled dissection of a situation.”
“bell”
“I wrote this song sitting on my childhood bedroom floor a couple of years ago. I'm really proud of it.” -
