  • Gryffin Releases New Album “Alive”: Streaming

  • American DJ Dan Griffith, aka Gryffin released his sophomore album “Alive” on November 3, 2022.

It is his first album in three years since the 2019 album “Gravity”.
The album was two to three years in the making and so much of it was crafted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The album comprises 17-track featuring guest appearances from Calle Lehmann, Elley Duhé, Matt Maeson, Audrey Mika, Kygo, Calum Scott, MØ, salem ilese, Au/Ra, Tinashe, Blanke & Eyelar, Jason Ross, Calle Lehmann, Kyle Reynolds, Maia Wright, Olivia O'Brien and OneRepublic.
Gryffin told BuzzFeed about the album, “Gravity was more environmentally themed and spacey. I wanted it to be about taking you to these worlds and places, this elevated gravity-type world. For Alive, I wanted it to be a little more human-focused — focused on the emotions that we go through as human beings whether it's joy, happiness, sadness, or dealing with loss, the gamut of emotions that humans go through and makes us feel alive. I wanted to give more of an organic, human-type feel to this album rather than the space vibes of Gravity.”
He continued, “It was also exciting because I got to try and experiment with my sound and not do the same thing as Gravity. I think it definitely has some similarities to it emotionally, but some of the production styles I've done this time are a bit different.”
  • Gryffin shared on social media, “Today's the day I finally get to share Alive with you all. Making this album has been a labor of love and challenging in new and exciting ways. I am SO PROUD of this final product and evolution of my work. I am also humbled to have worked with such a dynamic group of incredible writers and artists in building this. Lastly, I'm forever grateful for the love, energy, and loyalty you've all shown to me. It's good to be Alive with you all. Enjoy! Love, Dan”

Gryffin explained of some tracks for the album.

    “Alive” with Calle Lehmann
“I'm so proud to release the title track to my sophomore album, Alive. It's always a fun experience working with my longtime collaborator Calle Lehmann, and we're particularly excited to put this one out. Alive is an emotional record at its core, but has a euphoric dance beat driving it that feels like pure summer to us. We're thrilled to have it out and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

“Safe with Me” with Audrey Mika
“As the song was being worked on, I got put onto Audrey's music from one of my managers, and was immediately drawn to her voice and sound. We pitched the idea of the record to her and she connected with it right away. We got into the studio in LA, and began to fully develop the sound and vibe of the record. We're so happy with how it turned out.”

    “Reckless” with MØ
“I'm so excited to share Reckless with you all. MØ has been one of my favorite artists of all time, and I've always wanted to work on a song with her so this is a huge life goal achievement for me. This song has been two years in the making, and we finally felt like we nailed it. We wanted to make a song that was a pure spirited, summery, feel good vibe and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Play this one loud with the windows rolled down.”
MØ said, “We made a song together and it's very summery and fun. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

  • “Colors” with Blanke & Eyelar
Eyelar said, “You make me see who I am. When I discover your colors. The song is about unity, acceptance, and love.”
Gryffin said, “When Eyelar first sent me 'Colors,' I immediately fell in love, however, it took several iterations over the course of a year and the assistance of good friend Blanke to perfect. “This song represents so much of what my music is about, and I hope everyone feels the emotions and power of this record.”

“After You” with Jason Ross, featuring Calle Lehmann
“'After You' started as an idea tossed around at the end of a long Zoom writing session. The hook immediately captivated me, and I had Calle send me his vocals right away. Jason and I were also looking to work together, and I sent him the idea and he loved it. Over the next several months, we passed the record back and forth, working in LA (Los Angeles) and virtually with Calle in Sweden to get it as perfect as possible.”

“Best Is Yet to Come” featuring Kyle Reynolds
“Best Is Yet To Come is a song about not knowing or being able to predict the future, but being hopeful and optimistic that better days are on the horizon.”

    “You Were Loved” with OneRepublic
“I'm extremely excited to release 'You Were Loved,' as this record kicks off a new era for my music. Working with One Republic has been an incredible experience and we're really happy to have created a song that really aligns with both of our projects sonically and lyrically. We feel the record is a euphoric, summer anthem that has a strong emotive core to it. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did making it.”
