Ellie Goulding Announces New album “Higher Than Heaven”, Shares New Song “Let It Die”
British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding announced her fifth studio album “Higher Than Heaven” would be released on February 3, 2023.
It is her first album in three years since the 2020 album “Brightest Blue”.
The album comprises 16-track, featuring guest appearance from Big Sean.
“There was definitely a darkness about [the past two years] that was palpable in the studio, with everyone having gone through it differently,” Ellie Goulding explains. “I think for that reason, nobody wanted to sit and agonize over some relationship or some drama. So that's how this album came together. [Higher Than Heaven is] about being passionately in love. But it's a hyper form of love, almost like a drug induced feeling. It feels almost artificial and there's the potential for a crash.”
From the album, she unveiled the second single called “Let It Die” on October 19, 2022, following “Easy Lover”.
The track was written by Ellie Goulding, Peter Rycroft, Tom Mann and Andrea Rocha. Produced by Lostboy.
The accompanying music video was directed by Carlota Guerrero.- Ellie Goulding said of the song, “Let it Die happened in a day with Tom Mann and LostBoy. I love working with them because we're all on the same page with our love of pop & electronic music but still wanting to have a deeper meaning in the theme and lyrics.”
She continued, “Pete [Lostboy] played us a beat and Tom & I seemed to know pretty quickly how the melody should go, and lyrically I knew it needed to be something dark & empowering at the same time. Letting go of a toxic relationship is hard so sometimes you just have to cut the cord and drive away, instead of stringing it out for the hurt to build & build. I don't know anyone who hasn't been in this situation or doesn't know someone who has.” -
