Marcus Mumford Performs “Cannibal” & “Better Off High” on BBC Two Later with Jools Holland
British-American singer-songwriter and lead singer of British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, Marcus Mumford appeared on BBC Two Later with Jools Holland to perform “Cannibal” and “Better Off High”
Two songs are included on his debut solo album “(self-titled)”, which was released back in September.
“Cannibal” is the lead single from the solo album, and draws about his sexually abused as a child.
Marcus Mumford said, “Like lots of people – and I’m learning more and more about this as we go and as I play it to people – I was sexually abused as a child. Not by family and not in the church, which might be some people’s assumption. But I hadn’t told anyone about it for 30 years.”
“Better Off High” was released as the third single from the album. The song explores “the complexities of self-medicating” and relates to a time when Marcus Mumford was experiencing issues with addiction.
Both songs were written by Marcus Mumford and produced by Blake Mills.- t0JXJyKi2Rc
