  • Carly Rae Jepsen Releases New Song “The Loneliest Time” featuring Rufus Wainwright

  • Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen teamed up with Canadian singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright to release a new song “The Loneliest Time” on October 7, 2022.

This marks the first collaboration between Carly Rae Jepsen and Rufus Wainwright.
The song is the title track of her upcoming sixth studio album “The Loneliest Time”, which is set to be released on October 21, 2022.
She teased on social media, “one more song before the album drops.”
It was written by Carly Rae Jepsen, Nate Cyphert, and Kyle Shearer who also produced the track.
The track features disco power ballads and 5-piece string ensembles.
Rufus Wainwright shared, “Carly Rae Jepsen and I are going to the moon! Who's all coming? 'The Loneliest Time', our duet song, and the title track of her new album. I've been absolutely thrilled to announce this and now it will be available for your listening pleasure!”
  • The new album comprises 13-track. She worked with Australian songwriter Alex Hope, Canadian producer Tavish Crowe, producer and composer Rostam Batmanglij on the album.
She focuses on loneliness for the album. She said, “I'm quite fascinated by loneliness. It can be really beautiful when you turn it over and look at it. Just like love, it can cause some extreme human reactions.”
Also she made the album during COVID-19 pandemic. She said in podcast Switched On Pop, “We had to do it around Zoom and things like that, so it's been like a challenge but a really fun one. You have more time to have space in between the decision you're making and more time to kind of be away from the song for a minute, so I find it to be a whole new style of going at it, and I like it.”
