Precious Pepala Premieres New Song “Looking For Trouble” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Precious Pepala premiered a new song “Looking For Trouble” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
The song is her second single, following the debut song “My Eyes Only” released back in June.
It was written by Precious Pepala and Jordan Rabjohn. Produced by Jordan Rabjohn and Owen Claxton.
The visualizer for the song was directed by Erea Ferreiro Belmonte.
Precious Pepala said of the song, “'Looking for Trouble' is a song about rape culture and victim blaming. It addresses the unfortunately relatable feeling of fear when walking alone at night as a female. The lyrics also address the way that victims of sexual abuse are all too commonly questioned about things such as their clothing, actions or level of intoxication as if to justify predatory behavior. I feel very passionately about discussing this subject matter through my music and I hope this song acts as a conversation starter, because these issues need to be discussed until we see change.”- Precious grew up in Sheffield in the North of England, where she began singing at the church where her father leads a congregation.
After learning guitar at school and starting a girlband with her schoolmates, Precious started writing songs by herself, about issues faced by her generation - insecurity, social anxiety, navigating love and heartbreak for the first time.
She released her debut song “My Eyes Only” in June 2020.
“The song is very personal and shows a vulnerable side that I rarely let people see, and I wanted to show that vulnerability in a simple but beautiful way,” she saof of the debut song “Seeing my creative vision come to life is really exciting and I can’t wait for people to see it.” - source : BBC Radio 1
