Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts Releases New Song “Everybody Loves You When You're Dead”
Nashville-based rock band Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts, consisting of Tuk Smith (vocals/guitar), Ricky Dover Jr. (guitar), Shane Rickerson (bass) and Nigel Dupree (drums), released a new song “Everybody Loves You When You're Dead” along with a music video on September 30, 2022.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming debut album “Ballad of A Misspent Youth”, which is set to be released on November 4, 2022.
It was written and produced by Tuk Smith with production by Dan Dixon.
Tuk Smith said of the song, “I was channeling my favorite 70s glam gods on this track, for sure. I woke up one morning with phrase 'everybody loves you when you're dead' running through my head, so I sat down and the piano and the song kind of wrote itself. I had been struggling with the death of a friend and I was flooded with existential thoughts. It's not necessarily a song about death, per se, it's a bit more layered with some social commentary thrown in there. Personally, I look at it as more a freedom song.”- Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts was founded and fronted by former Biters leader Tuk Smith.
Growing up as an outsider in rural Georgia, Tuk Smith was forming his own acts, touring relentlessly and building a following with his high-energy live shows, including his tour of duty as lead singer for the Biters, who he fronted for nearly a decade.
Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts made their debut with the release of their first single, “What Kinda Love” in 2020. -
