  • Anne-Marie Premieres New Song “PSYCHO” with Aitch on BBC Radio 1

  • British singer-songwriter Anne-Marie premiered a new song “PSYCHO” with British rapper Aitch on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo on September 16, 2022.

Initially, the song was supposed to be out on September 9th, but its release got postponed to September 16th due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
This marks the first collaboration between Anne-Marie and Aitch.
The track interpolates Lou Bega's 1999 “Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit Of…)”.
It was written by Anne-Marie, Tom Mann, Aitch, GRACEY, Henry Tucker, Samuel Brennan and Tom Hollings. Produced by Billen Ted.
The accompanying music video was directed by Samuel Douek.
Anne-Marie told Clara Amfo about the song, “I'm not gonna lie the video he doesn't come across as my friend. I love writing songs like this. I love it heartbreaks obviously disgusting, but like, being able to scream your heart out about what you've been through is like a really empowering thing for me. I've had that in so many relationships where I've come out of it thinking I'm the one was the problem, and again, until you finally learn about yourself that you're not the problem or you get with someone who treats you like you're not the problem, then you realize how wrong that was. So this song is about that. And it's like finally, standing up to someone who's made you feel like you're the problem when it's actually them.”

She continued, “I mean, sometimes I'm like, why couldn't you have just seen that before. I really hate that. We have to go through stuff to learn it. Like I wish we were just born with knowledge. But I get this. I was in a relationship with someone when I was about 18. And he did this to me massively. And I left that relationship with those issues going into every other relationship. And the other day, I met him.
I was like, Yo, what was that about? And I didn't actually know what to expect, but he was so apologetic, he was I'm so sorry. Many songs are written. But yeah, it was really nice to like, hear it from him knowing that, you know, he was young and I know that's not really an excuse, but I feel like he's learned so much from that relationship. And it was really nice.”

  • She said of the collaboration with Aitch, “This song is mad actually, because I've been doing writing camps for the first time ever. I've never really been a fan of them because I'm quite a control freak. All right, guys, when you pick like your favorite producers and writers and you go to a place where you can stay there, it's like I'm like a holiday. And you just write music together. So we've been doing that. And in the last writing camp, we did this song, and I just knew straight I was like, this is the first one of the next bit of my life. And I just put it on TikTok. I didn't even I didn't ask anyone else. I'm just gonna put it up and I don't know if my label we're gonna be happy with this or whatever. But I did it and they were like, 'Oh, this is cool was this song, and then everyone started saying, Ah, it sounds so synchronous Aitch Aitch Aitch Aitch'. So I messaged him and I was like, seems as if people want you to do this song. And he said, 'Yeah, let's do it.' And then that was it.”
