Christina Perri Releases New Album “a lighter shade of blue”: Streaming
American singer-songwriter Christina Perri released her highly anticipated third studio album “a lighter shade of blue” on July 15, 2022.
It is her first album in eight years since the 2014 album “Head or Heart”.
She was pregnant with her second child during the recording process. But her second daughter died in 2020.
Even though, the album had already been in the final stages of completion, she paused the album when she lost her daughter Rosie.
She shared on Instagram, “I really didn't know how to grieve the loss of Rosie and then go back into being a recording artist. I couldn't find the bridge. And I thought to myself, 'I can't put out an album that's already written that doesn't represent Rosie, and I can't not talk about her, but I also don't know how to talk about her yet.'”
Then she released the album “songs for rosie” to pay tribute to her late daughter Rosie in 2021.
The new album “a lighter shade of blue” follows her healing journey after losing her daughter.
The album comprises 14-track, featuring guest appearance from Ben Rector. Produced by Christina Perri, David Hodges and Jennifer Decilveo.
Christina Perri said of the album, “I am so excited to finally share my third studio album, a lighter shade of blue. It was written and recorded across the last 5 years with so many people I love. These songs were created with emotion and heart and have completely saved me. I hope they help you too.”- Christina Perri explained of some tracks for the album.
“evergone”
“It is a story about grief and loss and choosing to believe the person you lost isn't really gone. Writing this song helped me heal from the recent loss of my daughter, Rosie. I hope my words help others through their own grief and healing.”
“tiny victories”
“It is an honor and a privilege to lend my voice and words to this story. the song is about overcoming something standing in your way, when sometimes it can look very small, but only you know how important the victory is. it encompasses every truth we have & i hope it speaks to the subject matter of this powerful film – that triumph comes in all forms; it's all meaningful, it's all a victory!”
“mothers” via E News
“I wrote this song with my dear friend Amy Wadge as a bit of a love letter to moms having a hard time. I was one of those moms when I had my daughter, Carmella. There are so many things you can't prepare for and your heart feels like it breaks over and over and over. We get so, so strong, but for a little while, we are very fragile. This is a song for those mamas. I want them to feel seen and held, especially on Mother's Day.
It also tells the stories of the most pain and joy I've ever experienced, so it makes sense that its overflowing with every feeling there is. Sonically, it's my favorite too because it was written, produced, engineered and performed by all women! The vibe and warmth of this album is unlike anything else I've ever made, but it should break your heart just like I always have!” - source : Apple Music
