Steve Lacy Premieres New Song “Sunshine” featuring Fousheé on BBC Radio 1
American singer-songwriter Steve Lacy premiered a new song “Sunshine” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
He teamed up with Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Fousheé on the track.
The song is taken from his upcoming sophomore album “Gemini Rights”.
It was written and produced by Karriem Riggins, Fousheé and Steve Lacy. The accompanying music video was directed by rubberband.
Steve Lacy told Clara Amfo about the song, “'Sunshine' had to come last because I kind of wanted to emulate kind of like the order of things with like the single drops, like 'Mercury', 'Bad Habit'. It just felt like older that was like the this feels like a good story as like a precursor to the album with sunshine being the light. Okay, let's bring it in. And that video was like, one of my favorites. I was like, you know, save the best for last tech type of thing.”- The new album comprises 10-track and is set to be released on July 15, 2022. It is his first album in three years.
He said of the album, “That won't be the last it's like electronic type of things. I'm always working but 'Gemini Rights' you can expect kind of like a memoir of like, where I am in my life right now. And the sonic landscape is really beautiful and really specific to me. Which I'm really proud of. I think I did something that only I can do, which is a really cool and it takes away the whole like, I don't know the competition aspect that people put artists through. Like I went to Instagram last night to read about people putting black artists against each other. So I'm like, you guys only do this with black artists. Like let's stop. And I'm not going to participate in that. I love everybody.” - source : BBC Radio 1
