FKA twigs Premieres New Song “Killer” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter FKA twigs premiered a new song “Killer” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
The song is the first taste of her upcoming third studio album.
It was written by FKA twigs, Amanda Ghost, Jimmy Napes and Jonathan Coffe. Produced by FKA twigs, Jonny Coffer, and El Guincho.
FKA twigs said of the song in a statement, “It's dangerous to be a woman in love”—when at its worst the effects of heart break can define one's trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself, in my song 'Killer' I explore this concept. The navigation, the hunt and the kill. The death of promises, dreams and the future that was once promised. But like the wildest plucked roses, I find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solace, darkened at the edges and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.”
She told Jack Saunders about the song, “I think for me this song is about the risks that you take for love. And I think like glass can be one of the most beautiful but also one of the most painful experiences. So it's about when you're entering into those feelings with somebody and the risks that you take and how it can just completely break your heart. And I guess like succumbing to that sometimes and the fear of it.”- She continued, “I mean, it can do like when you're in the moment with somebody it can feel like that moment is where everything and that person is your everything. And I think being with someone in that way, especially when you're intimate can be one of the most like beautiful and completely all encompassing, like human experiences. And then in that moment, it can feel like that.”
The new album is expected to be released in 2022. It is her first album in three years since the 2019 album “Magdalene”
She said of the album, “I'm gonna have to keep that under wraps but I think that this is definitely a new era of got a wonderful team around me. I'm just starting to figure things out is is clicking.” - source : BBC Radio 1
