George Ezra Performs “Green Green Grass” & Mimi Webb's “House On Fire” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
British singer-songwriter George Ezra performed his latest song “Green Green Grass” and a cover of Mimi Webb's “House On Fire” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
“House On Fire” was released by British singer-songwriter Mimi Webb back in February. The song reached No. 6 on the UK Singles chart.
“Green Green Grass” was released as the second single from his upcoming third studio album “Gold Rush Kid” in April.
It was written by Joel Pott, Stuart Price and George Ezra. Produced by Joel Pott and Stuart Price.
He shared on social media, “It all stems from a beautiful trip to Saint Lucia and will forever be a reminder for me to take stock of all the good in my life, the people I love and the fact I get to be here at all… I love the song. It's a party, it's a celebration, and it was born like 'Anyone For You', it was a result of going through old notebooks and years ago, 2018, me and two of my close friends were in Saint Lucia. Ah! Saint Lucia. We were sat at this beach bar that was tiny, just a square. With these dudes inside that were serving up either rum punch or local beer – and the beer is called Piton beer. And they've got two mountains in Saint Lucia, called the Pitons, and their lager is… chef's kiss, ladies and gentlemen. And so we were like A-B'ng the two, you know, rum punch, beer, rum punch, beer. Having a laugh with the guys that worked there. And then, this music started up! ”- OagZjCc20AQ

He continued, “Loud, loud music… streets away, but you could hear it, still. And the curiosity got the best of me, and I had to excuse myself. I ran down these streets in the beautiful sunshine and I got to this kind of high street and there was different sound systems out and there was people cooking out and dancing and holding each other and laughing and honestly it was just beautiful, it was an amazing thing to observe. And I jumped in this shop, and the girls that were working in the shop , and I said, 'girls, what's going on?! What is this?'. And they said, 'today is a funeral day, and there are three lives in our community that we have lost and that we are celebrating today'. And it just stopped me in my tracks. It was so different to how I know the end of life and how we kind of approach that at home. Knowing this now, I looked back over the street and it was even more beautiful. Just incredible. Anyway, I went back to the bar and carried on with the rum punch and the beer and spent the evening with these two people that I love; my two friends. Anyway, flicking through my notebook I found just a note from that day, that night when I got home, and it said, 'Green, green grass, blue, blue sky. You better throw a party in the day that I die'.”
The new album is set to be released on June 10, 2022.- source : BBC Radio 1
