Bruce Hornsby Covers Chuck Berry's “Too Much Monkey Business”
American singer-songwriter and pianist Bruce Hornsby released a cover of American singer-songwriter Chuck Berry's “Too Much Monkey Business”.
The song is the second single off of his upcoming solo album “Flicted”, which is set to be released on May 27, 2022.
The original version of the song was released by Chuck Berry from his first solo LP “After School Session” in 1956.
For Bruce Hornsby, it is his first ever cover song.
He shared on social media, “'Too Much Monkey Business' is a first for me, a cover song on a studio record. Leon Russell and I arranged this Chuck Berry song years ago and I wanted to revisit what we did and give it an update.”
The new album is the culmination of a trilogy, including the 2019 album “Absolute Zero” and 2020 album “Non-Secure Connection”, based on film “cues” Hornsby wrote for Spike Lee-directed movies.
The album features guest appearances from Blake Mills, Danielle Haim, Z. Berg, Ethan Gruska and Rob Moose.- Photo by Jim Chapin
