James Blunt Performs “Monsters” featuring BBC Concert Orchestra on BBC Radio 2 Piano Month
British singer-songwriter James Blunt appeared on BBC Radio 2 Piano Month to perform “Monsters” at Maida Vale Studios in London.
He played the song with BBC Concert Orchestra.
The song was released as the fourth single from his sixth studio album “Once Upon a Mind” in 2019.
His father Charles Blunt was diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease. He wrote the song to express his feelings about his father and his illness, almost as if it's a touching farewell to his father.
He said of the song at that time, “Monsters is a eulogy to my father – except he's still alive and kicking. But he's not been well – his kidneys are functioning at just 11%. And with that realisation, I needed to tell him that, to me, he's more than just a father. He's my friend too, and that I love him.”
Also, he has decided to donate all of the profit made from the song to Help for Heroes and British Legion charities.- source : BBC Radio 2
