half•alive Releases New Album “Give Me Your Shoulders Pt. 1”: Streaming
Long Beach-based alt-pop trio half·alive, consisting of Josh Taylor, Brett Kramer and J. Tyler Johnson, released the 1st part of their sophomore album “Give Me Your Shoulders” as “Give Me Your Shoulders Pt. 1” on February 11, 2022 via RCA Records.
“Give Me Your Shoulders” consists of two part. The fist part comprises 7-track, including a new single “Move Me” alongside a music video.
“Give Me Your Shoulders has many layers of intimacy. Physical, emotional, & spiritual. Shoulders are intimate in nature, close to the heart, a place of strength & tell of vulnerability. A sign of how safe I feel, & how close I'm willing to let you,” Josh Taylor said of the album. “I've never before explored the topic of love in our songs. This album is unexplored territory in that regard. It's vulnerable. Exposing my shoulders to whoever will stop & listen. Many of the songs are about the cry for love's hand around my heart. In one breath it's about a person & about God. To ache for the comfort of another. To hide in the corner of their shoulder & know I am safe.”- He continued, “To shoulder is to accept responsibility, to take on one's burden. To give your heavy. Saying 'take my yoke upon you & learn from me… and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light', as he proceeds to carry the weight of death on his shoulders, bearing it with arms outstretched to save the world. It is love. To give what you cannot carry. To accept another's burden without condition. To yoke yourself with the author of Love & find rest for your soul.”
The trio embarks on “Give Me Your Shoulders (TOUR)” in North America, the UK and Europe in support of the album. The tour kicks off at Emo's in Austin on February 24, 2022.
