Bad Suns Releases New Album “Apocalypse Whenever”: Streaming
American rock band Bad Suns, consisting of Christo Bowman (vocals/guitar), Gavin Bennett (bass), Miles Morris (drums) and Ray Libby {guitar), released their fourth studio album “Apocalypse Whenever”.
It is their first album in three years since the 2019 album “Mystic Truth”. The album comprises 13-track, produced by Eric Palmquist.
Initially, the album title was “A Moment Of Reflection”. But, frontman Christo Bowman changed the title to “Apocalypse Whenever” from his 2005 short film of the same name.
Also, Christo Bowman was inspired by Japanese author Haruki Murakami as making the album.
Christo Bowman told The Fader about the album, “I wanted to make music that puts the listener in a world like that. That made me feel the way that I felt when I was reading one of those stories, where there's this question of what's real?” In fact, he visited Japan. He said, “It's like you enter a dream world when you're [in Tokyo], you feel like you're in the future. And then you take a train, you're in Kyoto and you feel like you're in the past. It's just all of these different wildly visceral experiences.”- The band wrote some of these songs over video chat in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. He told Upset Magazine, “We decided to step outside of our comfort zone and write some songs together over video chat.”
He continued, “It's the truest form of self-expression on this record. All the stuff that you're hearing is all the types of music that I'm incredibly influenced by – from synth pop, eighties new wave and Japanese city pop and dream pop and emo and pop punk. It's just the most fucking me album I could think to make right now. I've never wanted to be in Bad Suns more than I do right now.”
The band kicked off “Apocalypse Whenever” tour at Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque, NM on January 28, 2022.
