Lizzy McAlpine Releases New Song “erase me” featuring Jacob Collier
American singer-songwriter Lizzy McAlpine teamed up with Grammy-Award winning British singer-songwriter Jacob Collier to release a new song “erase me”.
The song follows up “doomsday”, which was released back in October.
It was written by Lizzy McAlpine, Jordan Rakei and Jacob Collier. Produced by Ehren Ebbage and Philip Etherington.
The accompanying music video was directed by Gus Black.
“After a breakup it feels easiest to seek comfort in the beds of strangers but that almost never makes you feel better,” Lizzy McAlpine said of the song. “It makes you feel lonelier because there's 'nothing there but skin.' This song explores that feeling, along with the idea that the person you love could replace you too, and there's nothing you can do about it.”
She continued, “The video for 'erase me' really encapsulates the meaning behind the song because it shows the aftermath of a breakup. You fill the space that person left with strangers in an attempt to forget. At the end of the video, we see that it didn't work because I end up back at the school from my previously released 'doomsday' video. You can try all you want to forget them but as soon as you're reminded, you're heartbroken again.”- YV9NrQvNEv4

Jacob Collier shared on social media, “I first met Lizzy on an Instagram livestream [swipe😊] after she covered a song of mine a couple of years ago. Her voice is utter silk and it completely blew my mind. A few months later we got to meet and hang out and record together, which was EXTREME FUN. I was so happy and honoured to add some vocal colours to this song. It’s one of my absolute faves 🌟”
