Moonchild Announces New Album “Starfruit”, Shares New Song “Too Good”
Los Angeles-based alt-R&B trio Moonchild, consisting of Amber Navran, Max Bryk and Andris Mattson, announced their fifth studio album “Starfruit” would be released on February 11, 2022.
It is their first album in three years since the 2019 “Little Ghost”.
Moonchild shared on socil media, “Starfruit will be our 5th album, which felt like a big milestone to us as we were making it. We've been creating music together for 10 years now and we wanted to commemorate that somehow in the title.”
The trio continued, “Starfruit seemed like a perfect title because this album is the fruit of our last ten years of growing and meeting so many incredible people.”
They added, “From the practice rooms at school to our bedroom closets, each album has been a representation of our growth as people and musicians. We've brought new sounds, friends, instruments, plugins, inspirations, and life lessons to each album and the same is true for this one! We can't wait to share it with you in February!”
From the album, the trio released the new song “Too Good” on October 29, 2021.
Amber Navran said of the song, “'Too Good' is about being wrapped up in the high of love, and yet fighting off that sneaking suspicion that something terrible is around the corner, waiting to take it all away.”- The new album sees Moonchild experimenting with new synths and sounds.
Andris Mattson remarked, “Max has this arpeggiator synth patch that makes me so happy, Amber incorporated this cool octave pedal patch on her vocals and I made a keyboard patch I'm obsessed with.”
The album was recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic. Amber Navran said, “We've been processing everything that's been going on in the world, spending some time away from music, collaborating a lot with other artists, making this new Moonchild album and picking up some quarantine hobbies.” - source : Apple Music
