  • Yebba Performs at NPR Music Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

  • American singer-songwriter Yebba appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.

She performed 4 songs “Stand”, “Distance”, “All I Ever Wanted” and “How Many Years” from her upcoming debut album “Dawn”.
“Stand” was written by Yebba, James Francies, Andrew Wyatt, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon.
The song interpolates and expands on “While U Were Away”, which is included on British DJ Mark Ronson's 2019 album “Late Night Feelings”.
“Distance” was released in 2020, and nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance at Grammy Awards 2021.
She said of the song, “Emotionally, physically, and spiritually we were trying, but the only thing that came naturally was the distance. So, I wrote a goodbye before we ever got the chance to fight.”
“All I Ever Wanted” was released as the final promotional single from the album on September 8. It was written by Yebba, James Francies, Ilsey and Mark Ronson.
“How Many Years” was showcased for the first time from the album. She said, “This next song is just going to be me James and berniie's playing but it took me Jimmy and James like three years to write. And this is probably I think the only song lyrically that I feel fully encompasses my experience with grief in like the holding on to my mom embodying what was lost and then kind of returning to my own perspective I guess but this is called 'How Many Years'”
The debut album is out this Friday (September 10). The album is named after her late mother.
Yebba said in an interview with Harper's BAZAAR, “I feel like I've completed something and tried to honor (my mom) in the best way I knew how, and now I can be 26. And in spite of all the selfishness, I feel like God has given me more imagination, different pathways of melody, just more interesting symbolism than before. And just a lot less pressure. I'm just excited to keep making music.”
