Young & Sick Releases New Song “CICADAS”
Los Angeles-based Dutch singer-songwriter Nick van Hofwegen, aka Young & Sick has unveiled a new song “CICADAS” from his upcoming fourth studio album “BROTHER”.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “ANGELS” featuring Montreal-based singer-songwriter MUNYA.
The track was co-written and co-produced by Nick van Hofwegen and Luke Woods.
Nick van Hofwegen said of the song, “‘Cicadas’ started its journey as a young Hollywood cowboy, and ended up as an old sheriff’s horse.”
On the track he notes, “Julio Cortázar once wrote about ‘nostalgia for the kingdom.’ You know the feeling; that full-body yearn for something never known, that deep-set desire to return to a place never inhabited, never been, never left. That’s what we’re dealing with here. Nostalgia for the Kingdom.”
The new album comprises of of 10-track, and interpolates blues and jazz influence with his signature knack for pop songwriting, production, and performance.
