The 78th Golden Globes Winners List: “Nomadland” Wins Best Picture, Chloe Zhao Wins Best Director
The ceremony of Golden Globes took place on February 28, 2021, nearly two months later than normal, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cinema and on television. This was the first bi-coastal ceremony, with Tina Fey co-hosting from the Rainbow Room in New York City, and Amy Poehler co-hosting from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
“Nomadland” and “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” earned awards for best picture and the comedy or musical division, respectively.
Especially, Chloe Zhao, the director behind “Nomadland,” became the first woman to win the best director award since 1984 when Barbara Streisand secured an award for “Yentl.”
“The Crown” won the most awards for the ceremony with four, including Best Television Series – Drama. Schitt's Creek.
Jon Batiste secured a best score win alongside Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
“Soul” took home the award for best animated film, earning co-directors Kemp Powers and Pete Docter trophies.
