GUS Releases New Song “Lies”
Canadian singer-songwriter Gus McMillan, aka GUS released a new song “Lies” along with a music video on August 6, 2021 via Cadence Recordings.
The song is the second single of 2021, following “19” released back in March.
It was written by STEPHEN Molella, LØLØ and Gus McMillan.
“I won't sit here and pretend like communication has always been my strong suit, especially when it comes to sharing my feelings,” Gus McMillan said of the song. “My new song explores just that and the lies we tell ourselves to hide what we are actually feeling.”
He continued, “We're dishonest with ourselves, especially when we don't want to ruin a relationship with someone by telling them that we like them... Even if we're pretty sure that they feel the same.”
He added, “'LIES' is a confused, desperate, and excited track, revealing the frustrations of keeping your mouth closed and the relief that comes when you and the person you like are able to admit that you're more than friends.”
The video is inspired by the 2019 film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and was directed by Harry Toohey.
He said of the video, “I took inspiration from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for the song's visuals to highlight this connection.”- source : SoundCloud
