Tones And I Performs “Dance Monkey” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Australian pop singer-songwriter Toni Watson, aka Tones and I appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Dance Monkey”.
This marks her debut on American TV show. The song was released back in May and appeared on her debut EP “The Kids Are Coming”.
The track has now spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, setting a historic new record as the longest-running No. 1 since the charts were created in 1988.
"Thank you so much Australia for the love and support," Toni Watson said in a statement. "It’s been a crazy ride watching what this song has done but now to break the Aussie record is just a huge achievement! An Aussie now holds the Aussie ARIA chart record!”- She said of the song, “I wrote this song about being a busker and realizing that you can definitely tell that people are so entertained now by the click of a button now or a swipe. And when you’re playing live shows, I can see that, and I think there were a lot of times when I was busking where there were a lot of people in your face, like, “More, more! Go again, again, again!” … There were times where it was really prominent that people were so used to be able to swipe and see something different to entertain themselves that the patience had diminished. The quick changeovers were kind of what you need to do on the street now. You have to really be quick, you can’t talk as much, tell your story and get on with the song.”
