King Princess Premieres New Music Video for “1950”
New York-based singer-songwriter King Princess premiered a new music video for “1950”, directed by Clare Gillen.
The song is her debut single, written by Nick Long and King Princess.
King Princess was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. The product of a musical family, she spent much of her childhood tinkering on the vintage Neve board in her father's Brooklyn studio, where she learned guitar and piano.
She is currently working on her debut EP, which is expected to be released this spring.
About the song, she said;
"'1950' is a love song told through the lens of queerness-historically a publicly unaccepted but incredibly rich culture. Queer love was only able to exist privately for a long time, expressed in society through coded art forms. I wrote this song as a story of unrequited love in my own life, doing my best to acknowledge and pay homage to that part of history."-
